The Sherwood SE-3 Synchronous Detector
Recommended as #1 most useful R390A Accessory
The Sherwood SE-3MK III is manufactured by Sherwood Engineering in Denver, CO and works with any receiver
which employs a 455kc IF. This sophisticated device
enhances audio recovery and combats selective fading by reinserting a controlled, phase locked carrier into the received AM signal. When used in conjunction with the R390A controls, the SE-3 can also provide for passband tuning and SSB detection. The SE-3 replaces all of the rather simple detection and audio amplification circuitry of the R390A with a state of the art, synchronous detector and HI-FI audio amplifier. It installs
in seconds by plugging a single cable fitted with BNC to RCA connectors into the ``IF OUT" jack located on the rear panel of the R390A then plugging a speaker into the SE-3.The NASWA Shortwave Listening Guide by John FigliozziComprehensive Listings of Worldwide Shortwave Broadcasts in English and Other Languages in a searchable database format .
