Trips in the FJ
Investing a long weekend into taking a trip in the FJ is good for the soul. Taking a trip with other FJ owners as a group to a common destination is orders of magnitude more enjoyable.

My first trip was out to the National Radio Observatory
in Green Bank, WV. It was a working "vacation" but fun
none the less.
NRAO is about 300 miles from Tidewater, VA located intentionally in the middle of nowhere, WV. The route out to Green Bank is VIA I-64 then Rt 250 at Staunton, VA. Rt 250 winds its way through the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and across the Shenandoah Valley. The scenery for my June 18 trip was breathtaking although I am sure that Spring or Fall would be just as wonderful.

When approaching the Observatory Campus, you are greeted with this rather awe-inspiring sight. The 300 Meter Robert C. Byrd Radiotelescope (seen to the left) is the largest of its kind in the world and weighs in at 17 million pounds,
A point of interest, I am about 5 miles away at this point.

I enjoy photography. A few miles from the
Observatory Campus, I saw a one lane country road lit by beams of sunlight
shining through the trees. Makes for a neat FJ photo, yes?
All pictures were taken with a Canon EOS-20D and an 18-85mm Canon Stabilized EFS Lens
